What Does "S" Start With?

Natalie's new interest is spelling and like everything she does, she dove in heart, soul and Lightning McQueen shoes. She wants to know how to spell everything.

Coming back from class I kissed Hubby good bye and slid into the driver's seat, thankful that I could drive through the drizzly damp toward home where I could put the kids down for a nap and rest.

The first thing I heard as I got in the car was, "What does 'kiss' start with?"

Usually I make her figure it out but instead of getting into the whole "K" versus "C" conundrum, I simply answered, "K".

"What does 'Stinky Banana Car' start with?"

"You figure that one out." Heartless mother.

"Uhm.... 'S'!" She was jubilant.

"Good job."

"What does 'S' start with?"

I have to admit, that one stumped me. If we were playing Scrabble, it would start with 'E', oddly enough, since spelled phonetically, it's 'ess'.

Oh the joys of the English language.

"What do you think?" I sidestepped the question.

"Not sure." Ok, that was an acceptable answer.

We got home and decided that "Potty" and "Pick up toys" both started with "P", she did them and thankfully, she is now in "B" for BED. Whew!
